A use for all those toy swords

Had a funny little brain spark the other day!

In my never ending quest to amuse myself in a creative manner, I had a great idea for playing capture the flag with toy swords, Massive teams of like 50 on 50 fighting out in a public park...

then I thought some more about it, how about I add classes, Archers with sling shots or Nerf guns or something and medics that can heal "dead" players...

then I thought some more about it, how about I add some story element to it "Knights of the yellow cloths attempt to push out the barbarian raiders" then I realised something...

LARPING

that's right, Live-Action-Role-Playing that's what I was ended up with and frankly that makes me a little uncomfortable

However I can see the fun in this geeky madness, the question is could I pull it off?

I think Ill end up with a half baked war reenactment meets capture the flag type game which hopefully will be allot of fun...

If I get it going that is....

Now I just have to find enough friends of mine that will admit they own toy weapons and want to use them

Back to Reality!

Well I'm not so feverish any more and I'm feeling pretty good (cant say the same for my friend though, he's still sick with the same thing that knocked me out of commission for the day)

and let me tell you, its nice to be back to reality without the weird dreams and feeling of drifting in between weakness..

I'm pretty firmly planted in this one again

Well....

Well, got into a funny argument on the forum I moderate about "Canadian patriotism" and it was really pissing me off how much this guy wouldn't shut up about how great and awesome Canada was!

And it got me thinking ...

One of the reasons I'm so proud to be Canadian is that were not so "In your face about it"

Like certain nations.. *COUGH COUGH* America *COUGH*

So moral of the story is, If your Canadian and your reading this, don't get stepped on, stand proud, but don't go raving about it either, Your Canadian and you don't have to try to prove anything...

and if your a Horn Touting "4Th of July everyday" kinda guy, Shut up and sit down and try listening to the rest of the world a for change..

Delirous ramble

Well, I have a fever today and things just are not making sense... Had some really weird dreams, some very realistic, others completely off the handle. People always search for meaning in dreams but these ones can go one of two ways, either they are rolling in meaning or are totally meaning less, because no way is there middle ground when my dreams are this weird...

Dream 1: Vikings, Plasticine vikings, fighting on a bridge over something or other

Dream 2: Taking a Metro Bus to where is doesn't normally go, ended up in a ruined city where everyone has laptops and all I can think of is that "this would be a great place for paintball"

Dream 3: Sitting in Anthropology class, and for some reason I keep drinking this cold coco only to discover it actually belongs to a friend of mine and they are scowling at me for sipping it.

Dream 3.5: Still in Anthropology, this time I am trying to explain why I didn't do the project and that the reason why is that I have a fever, and shes not buying it.

Dream 4: Something about English class.. Kinda confusing..

I WAKE UP!!! (and proceed to feeling like crap and eventually writing this blog post)

A Crazy Japanese chick in cosplay!

well I found this by accident on the web a week or so ago. It just caught my attention so I decided to save it.

Why did it catch my attention? Not sure... I guess I'm just a sucker for Asian girls in crazy colours and plastic clothes. (Nice "S curve" of her pose too, making her look kinda curious in that sort of way that birds are curous and tilit there head)

And she is good looking (but what the heck is that thing at her crotch?)

Well what I do know is that the girl is cosplaying a character from the game "Space Channel 5"

What theme..

Hi again, now I know I haven't posted in a while but I've run out of literary steam lately.. however I have something to talk about today.

Well, my rpg system got to version 1, then just got boring,I don't know why. So I was out of a project until I started talking to a friend about my concept of a "perfect" board game, and before I knew it I had basically given an outline for a game to make, and so I made it, tested it (digitally of course, I'm too cheap to print out something for test purposes only) and now I have the great looming question. What theme should my game have? I have allot to choose from, any thing that would work for an RTS can work my game.

so now the big question

what theme?

- ancient (hoplites, temples.. all that good stuff)
- medieval ( AOE knock off.. )
- fantasy ( dragons etc..)
- mythical ( AOM knock off...)
- modern (!!!???)
- sci fi (hail to the space marine!)

well, Ive got plenty of time to think about it, I have no rush and I mean NO rush to do this. The only motivating force here is passion, which is by far the best motivating force.

Well, Ive resorted to this

for lack anything useful to discuss, I'm forced to talk about the most dreaded subject, effectively turning this in to my public diary.

today I feel bored, summer is fine, but its only really good to fantasize about when your in school. Good news is most of my friends are back from holidays, which means I can now stop living on msn and go out and enjoy the world.

My mom got rid of my old, and very small bike, which leaves me with my my over priced and shiny BMX which I don't want to take anywhere and I'm afraid to lock up, so I'm on the search for a nice old bike for city travail, no gears, no shocks.. nothing fancy.. just a bike

well that's all the news in my life today... Enjoy!

Mind Body and Spirit

After Much discussion with my friend, Ive decided to do a complete overhaul of the rpg system, add stuff, simplify and in some cases completely change aspects of it. An interesting aspect that we plan to use is the describing of an individual as a combination of "Mind" "Body" and "Spirit". Yes, this is very cliche, but the fact is it simplifies things much more. Instead of having dexterity,intelligence etc.. A character is given a score for mind, body and spirit. Mind covers all things dealing Whit intelligence and intellect, body covers fitness, stamina and strength, while Spirit describes something a little more vague, its like a combination of personality, determination and initiative.

Any way, just thought it was interesting

Now back business, Ive decided to only blog when I having something useful to say, so it wont be consistently every day anymore, though I will try to get something out at least once a week.
